Paid Family Leave in California
California was the first state to offer a comprehensive Paid Family Leave program, offered to California workers covered by State Disability Insurance. Under Paid Family Leave, qualifying workers are given up to 6 weeks of benefits if they need to take time off to care for a seriously ill spouse, parent, or child, or to bond with a new minor child.
If your employer refused to grant you time off and you ended up losing your job or were forced to quit as a result, you may be entitled to take legal action. The Paid Family Leave program, federal Family Medical Leave Act and the California Family Rights Act all offer you much-needed protection when you need to take leave from work, and out attorneys can protect your rights under these.
